Born in Laguna Beach California, Paul Carter has been surfing since age 5 and shaping surfboards since 1993. Paul has created his own surfboard label "Paul Carter Surfboards" which has become a known brand in the surfing world. Paul’s shaping started with Steve bahne and later influenced by shapers such as Terry Martin, Midget Smith, and Timmy Patterson. Paul surfed professionally for 6 years, both short and long board enabling him to travel the world surfing great waves. This experience has enabled him a unique insight on shaping techniques to reflect the hydrodynamic demands and styles of both short medium and longboards. When the waves are good you will see him at the beach breaks or the many waves of trestles and sano. Years into his shaping career, Paul began painting the surfboards that he shaped. His painted surfboards are now in countries such as France, Italy, and Japan and throughout southern California. His hand shaped and painted canvases are hanging in corporate and individual homes throughout the world. His hand painted art pieces display Paul’s style of spirit and peaceful energy which shows in each of his paintings. |
